Since its inception back in 2013, Barrage's primary aim was to bring the wargaming community together. To this end, Barrage is a 'not for profit' show and since 2014 we have adopted a charity for the show.

Since 2017 we have chosen to support our local food bank, House of Bread.

HoB is an organisation that offers a home cooked meal for the homeless and vulnerable in Stafford. The HoB Food Bank
supports people who are either homeless or without regular accommodation, to those who just need that extra support.

As with previous years, we run a raffle with some great prizes and you will be able to purchase raffle tickets in the conventional manner, but we want to encourage you to bring an item of non perishable food to donate to House of Bread. For each item of food you donate, you will be given a raffle ticket. The raffle is drawn at 3pm on the day of the show.

We will also have a 'Bring and Buy' section which will further help us raise financial donations for House of Bread, and you'll be able to score a great deal in the process!

To date, Barrage has donated a total of £1,550 to various charities.

For 2022, Barrage Wargames Show is continuing to show their support for House of Bread.

Staffordshire Wargaming Guild is a tabletop gaming community that meets every Sunday evening in the Stone/Moddershall area.

The group was founded in February 2014, initially meeting monthly in the bay windows of the Royal Exchange in Stone. The group changed to weekly due to demand and quickly out grew the Royal Exchange by the end of the year.

The group then moved to The Crown Hotel in the centre of Stone for the following couple of years until, again, it outgrew the space. The 3rd and current location is Moddershall Village Hall, just outside of stone, where the weekly community grew to it's largest yet. Pre-Covid, the group saw 60 regular members a week, playing various wargames and RPGs in the hall and at the back of The Boar pub just down the road.

During this time, the group has hosted 3 charity events, raising money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice, AED Donate and, since 2018, SSAFA/Tri Services in Newcastle. The group's first charity event took place on the first Sunday of July, which is now recognised as the guild's birthday... coincidentally the same day the Barrage Wargames Show has fallen on over the last few years.

Since 2017, SWG's events have now moved to the last Sunday of October. During this time, the guild has raised in excess of £1500. Some of the SWG members also helped cement the Guild's reputation by volunteering for some of the UK's biggest conventions such as UKGE and Dragonmeet.

So how does this all fit into Barrage?

Well, in 2018, SWG volunteered to host a Warhammer 40k tournament. Admittedly, the scenery could have been better but considering the time scale we had available at the time, it wasn't a bad effort. 2019 saw us up our game massively and hosting an even bigger tournament. When the call was put out in 2020 for a new team to take over Barrage, we knew we had to answer the call - we felt ready to up our game again considering we were looking into organising a bigger charity event ourselves, and Barrage provided that opportunity!

For 2022, we are keeping Barrage Wargames Show as it should have been for 2020/21, however for 2023 we do have plans to expand the show to incorporate more demo games, stalls and tournaments... maybe, just maybe, if all goes well, 2024 could see a change of venue...?
